Content Moderation Policy

Last updated: May 2026

Safe Marketplace Standards

Lithril is a reading and publishing platform for original literary works. This policy explains what content and behaviour are prohibited, how content is reviewed, and what actions we may take to keep the platform lawful and safe for readers, authors, partners, and payment providers.

This policy applies to books, excerpts, cover art, descriptions, comments, direct submissions to support, profile text, and any other content or interactions made available through Lithril.

1. Prohibited Content

The following categories of content are prohibited on Lithril:

  • Copyright-infringing, pirated, or otherwise unauthorised content.
  • Illegal content, including fraud, extortion, terrorism-related material, or instructions for violent criminal conduct.
  • Child sexual abuse material or any sexual exploitation of minors.
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery, doxxing, or serious invasions of privacy.
  • Spam, scams, phishing, malware, or deceptive monetisation practices.
  • Content promoting hate, targeted harassment, or credible threats of violence.
  • Graphic gore or exploitative shock content that is not appropriate for the platform.
  • Content uploaded by someone who does not have the rights or authority to publish it.

2. Explicit and Adult Content

Lithril may restrict or reject mature content even when it is lawful. In particular:

  • Sexual exploitation, coercive sexual content, or sexual content involving minors is strictly prohibited.
  • Graphic sexual imagery, explicit nudity used for commercial sexual purposes, or fetish content may be removed or refused.
  • Cover art, previews, titles, and descriptions must remain suitable for a general marketplace environment.
  • We may require content warnings, age-gating, edits, or limited distribution for borderline mature content where legally permitted.

We reserve the right to determine whether content is compatible with the platform, payment partner rules, and community standards.

3. Review and Moderation Process

Lithril uses a risk-based moderation system. Some books, cover art, profile changes, payout-enabled accounts, and other high-risk submissions may be reviewed before publication, while all content remains subject to post-publication review.

  • Uploads flagged by internal security, fraud, or copyright systems.
  • Reader, author, rights-holder, or partner complaints.
  • Transaction anomalies, chargeback patterns, or suspicious monetisation behaviour.
  • Requests from law enforcement, regulators, or payment partners.

Moderation may be triggered by automated flags, user reports, rights-holder complaints, partner escalations, transaction anomalies, or manual spot checks. Review timing varies based on risk, available information, and legal urgency, and we may request clarifying documents or context from the affected account.

4. Handling Illegal Content

When we identify content that appears illegal or creates an immediate safety risk, we may remove it without prior notice.

We may preserve account records, suspend related accounts or payouts, and report the matter to appropriate authorities or service providers where required or justified.

Nothing in this policy limits our right to take urgent action to comply with law, court orders, or partner obligations.

5. Enforcement Actions

When appropriate, enforcement is progressive. Depending on the severity, frequency, and context of a violation, we may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Remove or disable access to content.
  • Require edits, age-gating, relabelling, or additional warnings.
  • Issue warnings or place temporary publishing restrictions on an account.
  • Freeze monetisation, delay payouts, or place funds in reserve pending review.
  • Suspend or terminate specific features or the entire account.
  • Refer the matter to law enforcement, payment partners, or rights holders where appropriate.

Severe or repeated violations may skip warning stages and lead to immediate content removal, payout restrictions, permanent suspension, or account termination without prior notice.

6. Appeals and Reports

If your content or account is affected by a moderation decision, you may contact us to provide additional context or request a review, unless the issue involves urgent safety or legal restrictions.

Users may also report content they believe violates this policy. Please include the relevant URL, title, author, and a short explanation of the concern.
